Beyond Beginners

Have you mastered the basics and want to take your photography to the next level? This workshop takes you beyond beginners to understand how to use lighting and composition effectively for photos that attract attention and win praise. Learn to take full creative control of your DSLR or mirrorless digital camera. 

This is a 1 day workshop aimed at an intermediate level for those that already have an understanding of basic settings. With a combination of theory and hands-on practical experience, your learning will advance to the next level.

DURATION: 1 Day (10am - 3:30pm)

LOCATION: 1B Francis Street, Grey Lynn 1021, Auckland

Cost: $250

This workshop assumes that you have moved past shooting on “Auto” and are using Aperture, Shutter and Manual Modes for most of your images. We expand each mode in detail and cover the best subjects to use them on. Recommended for DSLR or mirrorless cameras only. 

Cool stuff you’ll learn:

• Metering, bracketing and exposure compensation

• Focussing

• Working with light and composition

• Filters and which lenses to choose

• Using flash

• Understanding playback data, colour space and RAW vs. JPEG

We believe people learn best in small groups, so everyone can get the individual attention they require, which is why our workshops are limited to 6 people. And a second tutor will be present where the group size is 6-12.
