FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How many people are in a workshop?

We believe people learn best in small groups, so everyone can get the individual attention they require. For this reason workshops are limited to 6 people, and a second tutor will be present where the group size is 6-12.

2. What kind of camera do I need?

For One-on-One workshops, the lesson will be tailored to you needs, so we can work with whatever camera you have, from a point and shoot compact camera upwards. For group workshops we recommend a DSLR or mirrorless camera. All camera brands are welcome. Bring any lenses you have, and a fully charged battery and a memory card with plenty of room on it. It can be helpful to bring your camera manual and any other accessories you have. We have several Canon DSLR cameras available to rent if you would like you would like to try one out for the workshop, before investing in your own camera equipment. These do need to be pre-booked in advance.

3. What experience do I need to attend a workshop?

Absolutely none for our Beginners or One-on-One tuition!  We can teach you how to confidently master your camera and all the many functions. For the Beyond Beginners or the specialist classes, we require you have to have completed a Beginners Workshops with us, or have some camera confidence and be at a level where you are shooting on semi automatic modes (Aperture or Shutter Speed priority) or full manual mode.

4. How are the workshops structured?

Some of our workshops such as Beginners and Beyond Beginners have two components: theory and practical. What this means is learning what all those buttons on your camera do, and then putting your new found knowledge into practice by getting out and about taking photos. This way, you get a true understanding of using all the various functions. These two courses are either run as a full day course, or split over two weeks with one session being the theory session, and the following week being the practical hands on session. The remainder of the workshops are one day sessions. Details and the location of each workshop can be found in the booking information.

5. How do I book a workshop?

You can book any of our workshops online and make payment using debit or credit card.

6. What shall I wear?

Make sure you are comfortable and can move easily with practical shoes.
